GIVING BACK — Seabee mom Laura Haberer (bottom left) received support from New Era Cap, which donated more than 60 hats to be shipped to local troops serving around the globe. ANGOLA — The tenants of People Inc. Holly Seniors Living in Angola recently took the opportunity to give back to their community. Residents supported troops and three grandmothers whose grandchildren were not home for the holidays.
The effort was spearheaded by the tenants and manager of People Inc. Holly Senior Living. Cookies were baked, cards were signed and a joint fundraiser with The Southtowns Military Family Network was held in December.
Linda Chapple, manager of People Inc. Holly Senior Living and founder of The Southtowns Military Family Network, said, “Many of us in the Evans area [had] family members far from home this holiday season, serving both here on United States soil and deployed around the globe. We want them to know that their sacrifice matters to all of us.”
The Southtowns Military Family Network is made up of females related to members of the military, past or present. Its stated mission is to provide support, assistance and empowerment to the families and members of the military, by promoting communication and the exchange of information and resources.
The women of The Southtowns Military Family Network support each other, as well as other family members during pre-deployment, deployment and post-deployment.
