Free prom dress drive shopping days

HAMBURG — Erie County Legislator Lynne Dixon, Urban Valet Dry Cleaners and Performing Arts Dance Academy have announced the dates for the fifth annual prom dress drive shopping days. Local high school girls may attend the event, to find a free gown for prom or other special event, from 3 – 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 5 and noon – 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 6 at Performing Arts Dance Academy, located at 206 Lake St. in Hamburg.
The donated dresses are cleaned by Urban Valet Dry Cleaners.
“I want to thank the community for their support, in addition to Urban Valet and Performing Arts Dance Academy, for making the fifth annual Prom Dress Drive a success,” Dixon said. “With the cost of prom skyrocketing, reusing gowns that have only been worn once makes perfect sense.”
A variety of sizes, colors and styles will be available. High school-age girls may choose one gown each. Attendees will be allowed into the shopping area on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Jackie O’Malley, Urban Valet Dry Cleaners director of business development, said, “This year, more than ever, the dresses that were donated are outstanding. We thank Legislator Dixon for her dedication to this project, and to Performing Arts Dance Academy, for opening their doors for our free sale event. We can’t wait to see these dresses go to a good home.”
