Festival of Arts 10-year anniversary celebration

HAMBURG — Artwork by students in the Hamburg/Southtowns community will be displayed at the 10th annual Festival of the Arts from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 29 at The Hub, located at 4999 McKinley Parkway, adjacent to Wesleyan Church of Hamburg. Last year’s festival drew more than 4,300 attendees.
This event will showcase the artwork of local students in kindergarten – 12th grade, from 15 public and non-public schools. Participating will be Frontier and Hamburg central schools, Immaculata Academy, Saint Francis High School, Erie 1 Boards of Cooperative Educational Services and Erie 2 BOCES Southside Academy and Baker School.
In addition to art exhibits, the festival will feature “make and take” workshops by Darwin Martin House, Graycliff, the State University of New York at Buffalo and Daemen College, Explore-N-More Children’s Museum and the Hamburg Youth Engaged in Service organization.
Music by the Frontier Fiddle Club, Hamburg High School saxophone ensemble, the Hamburg middle and high school strings group and Gatlin Walters will be showcased on the main stage. Poetry readings will take place between 1 and 1:30 p.m., as well as acts by the Hamburg High School Drama Club.
During the past 10 years, this annual show has featured more than 10,000 pieces of artwork and raised more than $14,000 for organizations working with youth and the arts.
All proceeds raised will benefit the Paint Box Project at Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
