The Woodlawn Beach Tiki Bar is open at Woodlawn Beach State Park to serve all the lakeside standards, as well as a few twists of its own.
HAMBURG — This past May, Blasdell’s Woodlawn Beach saw the departure of its former bar and restaurant, Woody’s Beach Club and Taqueria and the arrival of the newly-established Woodlawn Beach Tiki Bar to take over the role as the New York State Park’s concessions location.
With the establishment’s newly-appointed operator Robert Bieber at the helm, longtime restaurant owner, who also owns Colombo’s Bar and Grill on Lakeview Road, the bar has not only incorporated a tiki bar theme, but has added a few new features, including a newly-constructed clam bar as a supplement to the wet bar, as well as a revamped menu.
While sitting at one of the outdoor park benches or at the bar for a look at the menu, patrons can choose from an assortment of soft drinks, as well as a selection of domestic and imported beers.
Many of the bar’s offerings come from the fryer, including these poppers.
As for its food options, the reworked menu at the Woodlawn Beach Tiki Bar incorporates a wide array of choices, ranging from sides and starters such as mozzarella sticks, jalapeno poppers, deep-fried pickles and pizza logs, to wraps and sandwiches like the buffalo chicken wrap, prime rib sandwich, mahi-mahi sandwich or a hamburger, to the more traditional seafood fare of fried calamari, Maryland crab cakes or mussels marinara.
The menu also includes a discounted section for children under the age of 12, which includes a hamburger, boneless wings, a hot dog, or fried fish, each served with a side of fries.
The Tiki Bar also offers a weekly happy hour, which takes place Monday through Friday from 3 p.m.-5 p.m. with well drinks and domestic beers at a discount.
Patrons will also have the chance to catch live entertainment while at the beach, with musical acts performing each week, from Thursday through Sunday nights.
As attendees head toward the water, the Tiki Bar will also be open for those who are looking to rent kayaks, canoes or paddle boards. Also available to rent are beach umbrellas and the use of the beach’s fire pits.
After paying a visit to the Tiki Bar, those who attend the Woodlawn Beach will be able to see regular tournaments from an adult volleyball league, every Tuesday and Thursday during the summer, and kids will be able to use the Pirate’s Bay bounce house.
The Woodlawn Beach Tiki Bar will be open from 11 a.m.-9 p.m., Sunday through Thursday, and from 11 a.m.-11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The bar is located at the main building at Woodlawn State Park.
The park charges a parking fee for each incoming vehicle from 9:30 a.m.-6 p.m.
