ORCHARD PARK — Erie County Clerk Chris Jacobs has teamed up with the AAA of Western and Central New York to offer a “Passports on the Move” outreach event from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31 at the AAA Travel and Insurance Center, located at 3475 Amelia Drive in Orchard Park.
“I encourage anyone planning their upcoming vacation or a college student planning a semester abroad to come to our outreach and apply for their passport,” Jacobs said. “My office is pleased to host this outreach event with the AAA, in order to make obtaining a passport more convenient for all our customers.”
Those who attend the outreach will be able to apply for a passport card and/or passport book. Attendees will receive their passports in four – six weeks, for routine services.
The clerk’s office also offers an expedited service, which reduces the processing time to three days.
“AAA is pleased to continue our partnership with the Erie County clerk’s office, to bring this convenient, one-stop passport processing service to our members and travelers,” said Brian Murray, Western Region director of travel for AAA western and central New York.
Applicants must bring a proof of citizenship, such as an original or certified copy of their birth certificate, a previously-issued passport or original naturalization certificate, as well as proof of identity such as a current New York state driver’s license or non-driver identification card. Passport photos can be obtained, on site, for AAA members, for a fee.
Passport applications, a list of all required documents and a schedule of fees may be obtained, by visiting www.erie.gov/passports or by contacting the Erie County clerk’s office at 858-8866.
Payment may be made by check or money order only. Appointments are required and may be scheduled by contacting the AAA Orchard Park Travel & Insurance Center at 362-7746.
