Immaculata Academy art students help feed WNY

When the opportunity arose for Art Teacher Veronica Benes to have students create art that would also benefit the good of the community, her students immediately went to the drawing board. The Empty Bowls Program, held by Buffalo State College, encourages local artists, college students, and school children to craft bowls that address the social concern of hunger. The bowls symbolize the empty bowls around the world and all of the bowls will be on display and available for purchase at the Empty Bowls event at the Burchfield Penney Art Center on the Buffalo State Campus on May 19. Guests will be able to purchase bowls and share in a small meal donated by local WNY restaurants with all proceeds will go to help benefit the Food Bank of WNY and Friends of Night People. Pictured with their bowls from left are: Bailey Forster, Nicole Rudnicki, Brianna Gorczyca, Annie Meghan Fitzpatrick, Marisela Neff, Emma Pronko, Lauren Massimi, Molly Sisson, Moyi Wang, Angelina Giglio and Rachel Luczak.
