EDEN — Members of Eden Library’s Yarn Club have been making knitted and crocheted items for various local charities since 2007.
Their total has recently exceeded 3,000 items given to agencies such as Women and Children’s Hospital, the Priscilla Project, Harvest House, Friends of the Night People, Homespace, Saint Luke’s Mission of Mercy, Veterans Under Bridges, Overseas Veterans, the Eden-North Collins Food Pantry, the Teen Challenge of Western New York, Navajo Children of Arizona, Orphans in Afghanistan, local nursing homes and an inner city school.
The group’s efforts have been recognized by the New York Army National Guard and Quarter International. The members were also featured in Channel 2’s “Good Neighbors” segment “Eden Yarn Club Part of Tight-Knit Community.”
Meetings occur monthly, and one-on-one instruction classes are held in July. The group supports library programming through the sale of goods on display at the library.
Senior Library Clerk Helga Antonou is the group’s coordinator.
