HAMBURG — Weekend public skate will open for the season on Friday, Oct. 11 at the Hamburg Town Ice Arena, with hours set for Fridays from 8 – 9:50 p.m. and Sundays from 2 – 3:50 p.m. Public skate will also be held from 11 a.m. – 12:50 p.m., Tuesdays – Fridays.
The town of Hamburg Department of Youth, Recreation and Senior Services has also scheduled a Halloween public skate at the arena from 2 – 3:50 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27, at the regular resident admission price.
The town arena is located at 2982 Lakeview Road in Hamburg.
The Halloween event will feature a costume contest with first, second and third prizes, arts and crafts, Halloween music and other activities. Members of the town of Hamburg Youth Bureau’s YES program will offer free face-painting.
Event sponsors include Tops, Edie’s Pizza & Subs and Just Fun Family Entertainment Center.
Rental skates and helmets will be available. Bicycle helmets will also be allowed. Participants 14 and younger must wear a helmet.
Private ice time may be rented by calling the recreation office at 646-5145, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Ice time cannot be reserved in person at the arena. All hour rentals consist of 50 minutes of ice time, with a 10-minute resurfacing. Minimum rental time is one hour, after which segments of 15 minutes each may be added. For hockey rentals, helmets with full face mask, gloves and skates are required.
