Golf instructor Chuck Volk guides young duffers in the chipping and putting contests at the Youth Golf Open House held recently at the 18 Mile Creek Golf Course.
HAMBURG — Winners of a drawing and chipping and putting contests at a Youth Golf Open House held by the town of Hamburg Department of Youth, Recreation and Senior Services on April 26 were announced this week by Recreation Supervisor Luke Sullivan.
Owen Riggs, age 7, won the drawing for the grand prize, a brand new set of golf clubs. The winners of chipping and putting contests, by age divisions, winning Dick’s Sporting Goods gift certificates were: ages 4-7, first place, Liam Griffin, 7; second place, Jack Homer, 7; ages 8 and 9, first place, Robert Weissflach, 9; second place, Thomas Little, 8, and ages 10-plus, first place, Emilie Griffin, 10, and second place, Shaughnessy Shepard, 12.
The annual spring event held at the 18 Mile Creek Golf Course provided youngsters and their parents with an opportunity to learn more about town youth golf programs, as well as participate in the contests and partake of refreshments and bounce houses.
