HAMBURG — The town of Hamburg Department of Youth, Recreation and Senior Services, in conjunction with the Blaze Sports Club of Hamburg and The Donny Thiry Foundation, is accepting registration for three recreation programs for individuals with physical, mental or learning disabilities.
All are scheduled in one-hour programs on Saturdays at the Blasdell Elementary School in the village of Blasdell, from Oct. 5 – March 29.
Scheduled for 9:30 a.m., Disabled But Able is a program with a stated goal of providing participants with opportunities to socialize and strengthen basic motor skills, through a variety of skill development stations.
Find Your Niche is geared toward providing safe, sensory sensitive, nurturing environments for children on the autism spectrum, those with non-verbal learning disabilities and other neurological/behavioral challenges, according to organizers.
The stated goal of this program is to strengthen social communication, emotional, motor and behavioral skills. It is held in two one-hour sessions according to age, with kids 5 – 11 attending at 10:30 a.m. and those 12 – 18 attending at 11:30.
There may be accommodation provided, according to skill and emotional level.

Group Home Recreation is a program that will take place from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. with a stated goal of providing participants with socialization opportunities and basic motor skills, through a skill development stations.
