HAMBURG — Braving the cold drizzle of a late November afternoon, 40 freshmen loaded the back of a truck with a literal ton of food.

Saint Francis High School in Athol Springs held its annual Thanksgiving food drive, during the week of Nov. 18 – 22. This year, the drive’s cans and boxes went to support Saint Luke’s Mission of Mercy, an organization with which St. Francis has interacted with many times, during the years.

This year’s food drive was organized by the school’s campus ministry program. Students and faculty members donated more than 2,800 pounds of food.

Collecting without added incentives, the students surpassed last year’s total by more than 1,200 pounds.
