HAMBURG — The online registration for the 118th annual YMCA Turkey Trot, presented by ADPRO Sports, will be available, beginning Aug. 1.
The trot will once again be held on Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 28. It has been sold out, nearly every year, since it first began. Online registration may be done at www.ymcabuffaloniagara.org and will be available until noon on Nov. 21, or until capacity is reached.
The trot will again contain no more than 14,000 runners. Paper registration will be accepted until Oct. 31. A downloadable form is available on the YMCA’s website. There is a charge to participate.
The event will provide participants with a disposable timing chip, which will instantly record a runner’s time. The post-race celebration will be held at the Buffalo Convention Center.
Also returning, this year, is the family-style post-race area in Statler City, located across the street from the convention center. Participants and their families may partake in non-alcoholic beverages and refreshments.
The race will begin at the Delaware Family YMCA at 9 a.m. The facility is located at 2564 Delaware ave. The finish line will be located at the Buffalo Convention Center.
The race takes an 8K route. Runners and walkers may participate. All race participants will be included in the post-race celebration and awards presentation.
Proceeds from the event will be utilized to make YMCA programs and services accessible to children and families at all YMCA Buffalo Niagara branches.
