Bernard “Bernie” Grucza, the suspect arrested in the murder of Toys R Us Manager Laurence "Larry" Wells, is due back in the Hamburg Town Court for purposes of a felony hearing at 10 a.m. on Oct. 18.
Grucza, who is represented by Attorney Frank Housh, has been arraigned on second degree murder charges; a plea of not guilty was entered on his behalf by Town Justice Walter Rooth at an arraignment yesterday.
Housh, who has already met with his client, said that Grucza is maintaining his innocence; the attorney said that a full and complete review of the evidence will prove that his client “didn’t commit the crime.”
Friday’s proceedings will allow the prosecution to attempt to demonstrate to the court that there reasonable cause to believe that the defendant committed the crime charged and that he should remain in custody, pending trial.
Housh added he has been advised that his client has been served notice that the case will proceed to a grand jury.
