HAMBURG — Advance Auto Parts Inc. opened its 4,020th store location at 4250 McKinley Parkway, in the Tops Friendly Markets parking lot, on Nov. 26.
General Manager Thomas Brunner has worked in automotive retail for 23 years, specifically with Advance Auto Parts Inc. for 18 years.
The grand opening and ribbon cutting for the McKinley Parkway location took place in front of the store. Attendees included Hamburg Chamber of Congress members Joe Gunning, Erin Erickson, Cyndi Matla, Hamburg Village Mayor Thomas Moses, Walter Iwanenko, Hamburg Town Clerk Cathy Rybczynski and Hamburg Town Supervisor Steven Walters.
DOLLARS — General Manager Tom Brunner presented a $1,000 donation to Ashley White, a representative for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
During the ceremony, Brunner also presented a $1,000 check to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
The plans for this new Advance Auto Parts location have been in the works since September. The spot was previously made up of unused land. “There was just trees here,” Brunner said.
The building and its parking lot are now completed. Other spaces in the plaza will be filled with undetermined businesses and a Tim Hortons© is currently being built across from Advance Auto Parts.
Brunner said that he was initially nervous about the coffee shop’s being built at that spot, because he thought it could visually block his store from drivers. He added that, when he saw the Tim Hortons sign, he felt the coffee shop’s location would end up working in his favor.
“There will be more traffic in and out of [the plaza],” Brunner said.
In addition to this new store in Hamburg, the other local Advance Auto Parts is located at 5935 Camp Road. Brunner said he believes that customers who tend to patronize the McKinley Parkway location will deal with fewer traffic issues.
“For the Southtowns, it’s a pretty central location,” Brunner said. “It is pulling from Blasdell, customers in Orchard Park, and customers in Hamburg.” He said the individuals who have already seen his store have seemed happy about the new location.
“[Advance Auto Parts Inc.] is going to be No. 1 volume in money company,” said Kyle Weidman, district leader of the Western New York locations. There are currently 17 locations in WNY, and there will be one opening in Grand Island next week.
The company’s stated motto is “Service is our best part.” In addition to selling parts and accessories for automobiles, the employees (or the individuals the company calls its “team members”) provide assistance specifically to serve the customer. Advance Auto Parts Inc. currently employs 50,000 team members.
Ten employees are available for assistance at the new location. Customers may take advantage of electrical checks or the installation of new batteries or windshield wipers, with purchase.
