HAMBURG — A trip to the dentist will have less impact on the wallets of uninsured Southtowns residents on Sept. 28, when a team of dentists will open their offices to perform free services.
Dr. Bob’s Dental Care is the Buffalo participant in what has become a tradition of providing no-charge care, one day per year. The national not-for-profit Dentistry from the Heart will host the event, with volunteer dentists.
The group’s stated mission is to “make people smile.”
The organization reported that more than 100 million Americans lack dental insurance and more than 29 percent of adults have untreated cavities.
Dr. Robert LaCarrubba of Camp Road has given free care, during the past four events. “We plan to treat over 300 patients on this day, coordinating with a team of my associates to perform free extractions, fillings, or cleanings, to take care of as many folks as we can,” he said.
LaCarrubba’s office, located at 4741 Camp Road in Hamburg, will be open from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Sept. 28. The dentist asked that individuals register, beginning at 7:45 a.m. Patients will be seen on a first come, first served basis.
He recommended that prospective patients come prepared with blankets, snacks and water, because the line will form outside.
