Charlie the Cowboy and Checkers the Clown
The Angola Public Library will be hosting Charlie the Cowboy and Checkers the Clown for a fun-filled event at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 15. They will entertain the crowd with juggling, magic and audience participation. Targeted for 6-12 years of age but all will enjoy. Registration is required. Call 549-1271

Faith United Church of Christ Sunday school has classes available for ages 3 and older. Sunday school classes are divided by age level with classes for Pre-K through Kindergarten, Grades 1-3, Grades 4-5, Grades 6-8, Grades 9-12, and for adults. Classes start at 9 a.m.

Craft and bake sale in Boston June 15
On Saturday, June 15, Churchill Memorial United Methodist Church will host its annual Bake and Craft Sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The day will offer homemade pies, cakes, cookies, muffins and many other treats. As well as handmade arts and crafts by local area artisans will be available to purchase. A theme basket auction will also be held. Winners will be drawn that day and they do not have to be present to win.
Craft space is still available. If you are a crafter and are interested in renting a 10-foot-by-10-foot space, send a $25 check to Churchill Memorial UMC, at Fundraising Chair at 7722 Omphalius Road, Colden, NY 14033. Along with your check, please include a list of what you are selling, your phone number and email address. For questions or if you need to rent tables or chairs, call Anne at (716) 597-9775.

Henry’s New Garden
The Eden Garden Club will be holding a tour of Henry’s New Garden Facility on Tuesday, June 11 at 6 p.m. Each member may plant one pot. Bring a chair and wear a crazy hat for the tailgate. The club is located at 7884 Sisson Highway, Eden.

St. Mary lawn fete to be held June 21-23
St. Mary of the Lake, 4737 Lakeshore Road, Hamburg, is holding a lawn fete on June 21 through June 23.
Admission is free and pre-sale wristbands for rides are available for $15.
Bands will play on all three days, as well as a beer tent and a Chiavetta’s barbecue on Sunday, June 23 at noon until sold out.

Summer tennis for kids and adults
The Town of Hamburg Department of Youth, Recreation and Senior Services is now accepting registration for summer tennis programs for children and adults.
The summer schedule includes:
Youth Tennis lessons for children ages 5 to 11. This program includes Junior Membership in the USTA. Classes are held for six weeks at the St. Francis courts from 9 to 11 a.m. from June 25 to Aug. 5 (no program July 4) and students may choose to meet either Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays. To make up the holiday, the Thursday class will meet on July 12.
Each two-hour session will include a 15-minute break. A fee of $30 for residents and $35 for neighbors, includes a size appropriate tennis racquet and ball. For those who participate with their own equipment, the fee is $20 for residents and $25 for neighbors.
Adult Tennis lessons (for anyone 17 and older as of July 1) will take place on Fridays from 10 a.m. to noon at St. Francis Courts from June 28 to Aug. 9. Participants must bring their own racquet. The fee is $30 for residents and $45 for neighbors.

‘Bowling Rocks’ for kids at Braymiller’s
Children ages 7 to 13 who want to polish their bowling skills or learn more about the sport may want to consider a program offered this summer by the Town of Hamburg Department of Youth, Recreation and Senior Services.
“Bowling Rocks” is a program of the U.S. Bowling Congress and will be held on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to noon at Braymiller’s Lanes, 39 Buffalo St., Hamburg, from July 2 to Aug. 6.
This instructional bowling camp is designed to introduce boys and girls to the sport of bowling. The cost of bowling shoes and balls is included in the registration fee of $40 for residents and $45 for neighbors. Registration can be done in person at the Recreation Office, 2982 Lakeview Road (Nike Base), Hamburg or online at www.townofhamburgny.com

Disability Awareness Mass
The SS. Peter and Paul Church opens it’s doors on Sunday, June 9 at 12:15 p.m. for a special disability awareness Mass held by Rev. Arthur Mattulke, Pastor and Celebrant. The “Open Doors, Open Hearts, Open Minds” Mass invites all to learn how to welcome everyone, especially those with disabilities, to actively participate in Mass and Parish Life. The event is cosponsored by SS. Peter and Paul Disablities/Chronic Illness Ministry, the Elizabeth Ministry and the Diocesan Lifelong Faith Formation Department.
Refreshments will be available following the Mass.

Summer basketball leagues in Hamburg
The Town of Hamburg Department of Youth, Recreation and Senior Services is accepting team registration for its Youth Summer Basketball Leagues at the Recreation Office, 2982 Lakeview Road, Hamburg.
The program runs from June 24 through Aug. 9, with no program on July 4. Modified (ages 12 and 13), Junior Varsity (ages 14 and 15) and Varsity (ages 16 and 17) basketball leagues are run at the Frontier Community Learning Center on Southwestern Boulevard from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays for the girls team and on Tuesdays and Thursdays for the boys team, with Fridays available for either group if needed.
Individuals must reach the appropriate age for their category as of July 1. The fee per team is $100 for residents and $140 for neighbors.

Penn Dixie 20th annual nature cruise
The Penn Dixie Paleontological and Outdoor Education Center’s 20th Annual Penn Dixie Nature Cruise and Buffalo Lighthouse Tour will be on Sunday, June 9, with boarding beginning at 8:30 a.m. and departure promptly at 9 a.m.
Limited space available, so bookings should be made soon. The three-hour cruise will view the Buffalo Harbor, Lake Erie, Niagara River and the Black Rock Canal.
Tour guides will discuss: the local geology – including the formation of the Great Lakes and Niagara River, fisheries, aquatic biology, birding and historic points of interest, providing an interesting and informative commentary throughout the cruise. The cruise offers a great experience to view the Buffalo area and skyline from the harbor, Lake Erie and the Niagara River, including the wind turbines that have been installed on the former Bethlehem Steel property.
After completion of the cruise, there will be a tour of the Buffalo Lighthouse, courtesy of the Buffalo Lighthouse Association. This will be a rare opportunity to visit one of the most historically significant and architecturally prominent features on the Buffalo waterfront.
Bring a jacket or windbreaker, rubber-soled shoes, your camera and binoculars. Registration is limited. HNHS/Penn Dixie members: $25 adults, $22 for children 12 and under; Non-members: $28 adults, $25 children. Summer fitness center memberships
The Town Park Fitness Center is offering a summer membership special to college students for $50. Town residency is required to be eligible.
The price of the membership includes a resident discount card and parking pass for the Hamburg Town Park and the Fitness Center. Membership includes one free workout with a personal trainer and a free personalized workout plan.

North Collins

‘Rock the Fire Hall’ in North Collins
Back by popular demand, the North Collins Volunteer Fire Co. will be hosting another “Rock the Fire Hall” dance event on Saturday, Jun. 8 from noon to midnight.
There will be live entertainment from three popular local bands: Black Pearl, The Divas Show Band, and Black Widow. Get there early, BBQ chicken prepared by Wendell’s will be served at 11 a.m. and various food and beverages will be served throughout the day.
This event is family friendly and there will be plenty of bounce houses for the little ones. A new feature this year will be a Golf Ball Drop contest at the North Collins Town Park at 10 a.m.
You can donate anywhere from $10-$100 for a varying number of golf balls. Around 1,200 golf balls will be dropped from an aerial fire truck and the first three in the hole will win cash prizes: $1,000 first prize, $500 second prize, $250 third prize. Furthest person from the hole will win $250. One ball will be chosen before the drop and if it is yours and lands within 15 of the closest golf balls or in the hole itself, you win $10,000.
There is no admission charge.
The Golf Ball Drop will be held at the North Collins Town Park and the dance will be at the North Collins Fireman’s Training Center.
