LAKE SHORE — The Lake Erie Beach Neighborhood Revitalization Task Force, in collaboration with the town of Evans and Lake Erie Beach Fire Company, has announced plans for the third annual neighborhood-wide cleanup for the Lake Erie Beach area, scheduled for 8 a.m.-noon on Saturday, May 10, rain or shine.
The Lake Erie Beach Fire Hall, located at 9483 Lakeshore Road, will serve as the host the day of the event, mobilizing volunteers in the morning and serving as the drop-off location for the trash collected that day.
The cleanup will focus on vacant lots, parks, recreational areas and larger thoroughfares in the Lake Erie Beach area.
The endeavor will also include the neighborhood commercial area along Old Lakeshore Road. Goodwill Industries will be on hand to accept clothes and household goods for repurposing.
The LEB Task Force is looking for volunteers to assist with the effort or organize a cleanup on their own block. Trash bags, rubber gloves and safety vests will be provided. Participants have been asked to bring water, work gloves and sunscreen.
During the past two years, volunteers have collected more than 300 bags of litter along roadways and ditches in the Lake Erie Beach neighborhood.
