HAMBURG — Erie County Legislator Lynne Dixon announced that local agencies and businesses have partnered with the Drug Enforcement Administration to set up collection sites, during National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, Oct. 26.
“By taking part in this program, residents help ensure that medications do not fall into the wrong hands, which could result in abuse, poisoning or even death,” Dixon said.
Pharmaceuticals will be collected from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Oct. 26 at the following collection sites:
– Buffalo police will be collecting at the Erie County Botanical Gardens, located at 2655 South Park Ave. in Buffalo.
– Hamburg police will be collecting at West Herr Collision Center, located at 5140 Camp Road in Hamburg.
– The Evans Police Department will be collecting at the Angola Town Hall, located at 41 Commercial St. in Angola.
– The North Collins Police Department will accept unwanted prescription drugs at the village of North Collins Municipal Building, located at 10543 Main St. in North Collins.

The Erie County Sheriff’s Office maintains prescription collection boxes that are available 24/7, throughout the county. For a list of locations, visit www.erie.gov/sheriff. Residents may drop off medications at any time.
