Two local musicians will perform in show at Hamburg United Methodist Church

HAMBURG — The Four Centuries Chamber Orchestra will present "Sounds of Spring," a concert featuring Maestro Dennis Lell and Soprano Danielle DiStefano of Eden, at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 23 at the Hamburg United Methodist Church, located at 116 Union St. in Hamburg.

This event is free and open to the public.

DiStefano and the orchestra will perform Franz Schubert's Fourth Symphony, and George Bizet's "Jeux d'enfants."

A classically trained soprano pursuing a vocal performance degree at the State University of New York at Fredonia, DiStefano, will also sing art songs and arias by Puccini, Massenet, Gounod, Arditi and Dvorák.

DiStefano has performed in Puccini's Suor Angelica, with Opera Sacra in Buffalo, in Nickel City Opera's Rigoletto in June 2010 and in Nickel City's Amahl and the Night Visitors in November.

She has performed at the Burchfield Penney Art Center, Montante Cultural Center, the Riviera Theater, State University of New York at Buffalo's Baird Hall and Our Lady of Victory Basilica, in addition to TV appearances and private recitals, concerts and galas here and throughout the United States.

Lell, a 1964 alumnus of Hamburg High School, is the founder and has been conductor of the Four Centuries Chamber Orchestra, since 1983. He taught woodwinds and strings as a member of the music faculty of the Hamburg Central School District from 1968-2001.

Lell also has conducted the Chamber Orchestra at the Buffalo Suzuki Strings Summer Workshop since its inception in 1982 and he conducted the Greater Buffalo Youth Chamber Orchestra from 1983-1986. He has served as general manager of the Green Bay Symphony Orchestra in Green Bay, Wis. and the Nassau Symphony Orchestra in Garden City on Long Island. He plays viola in community orchestras and chamber groups in the Buffalo area.
