Boy Scouts beneficial to Scout from Eden
Editor, The Sun
I am writing to you to tell you about the benefit of being in Boy Scouts. I started in Scouts in first grade in the Cub Scouts and am now a Star Scout in the Boy Scouts.
I am working toward my Eagle rank. In Scouts I have learned about many different things. I have learned the proper ways to make and put out fires. As a Scout you get to go camping a lot. Our troop has lots of opportunities to go camping.
You get to learn how to set up and take down tents. We even had a competition between our patrols to see which patrol could set up and take down their tent the fastest. You learn how to use a compass and map. There are many different merit badges you can earn that help you to learn good life skills in the process - like swimming, life saving, emergency preparedness, first-aid and many more. There are also ones that could make you better at something that you already know how to do – like chess, leatherwork, art and climbing. Boy Scouts offers many new and exciting experiences and I would recommend it to anybody.
