‘Green Friday’ event in the Village of Hamburg proved to be a big success for the local retailers
Editor, The Sun
On the Friday after Thanksgiving The Village Of Hamburg was all a buzz with Holiday Bliss. Not because of the over exposed Black Friday but because of The Small Businesses coming together to promote Green Friday and thus give back a little nostalgia to the busiest shopping day of the year.
If you participated, you may have noticed happy jolly shoppers strolling along our walkable streets and visiting or small shops and eateries.
Others were enjoying the free trolley rides to stores they never had encountered before. In our shops, music was playing, gifts were being wrapped by smiling shop owners and there was an over-all Holiday Happiness that was a pleasure to once again experience. As the creator of this event, it was so exciting to see it evolve to what we collectively participated in.
I want to especially thank The VBAC for graciously covering the cost of the free trolley as well as Cindy Barrett the owner of Comfort Zone Cafe & Eric Adams the owner of Picture Your Walls for the long hours they put in to help organize it.
The Hamburg Chamber of Commerce provided re-usable shopping bags that we filled with discounts and coupons.
Everyone that provided help no matter the level of participation, I thank you as well. Most importantly... we the small businesses of the Village of Hamburg, are very thankful for our wonderful supportive citizens that found a value in participating in Green Friday and hope that next year you again join us and encourage others to do so as well.
The small businesses that line your streets are the glue that holds your local economy together... but without you we cannot exist! Again thank you for your support and Happy Holidays to one and all.

The Hamburg Rejuvenation Committee would like to take this opportunity to express our sincerest appreciation for all who volunteered their time or made a donation to help make our 3rd annual “Christmas at the Cabin” a huge success.
We would like to thank the Town of Hamburg, Hamburg Councilman Joe Collins, Hamburg Village Mayor Tom Moses, Beverly Preischel and the Y.E.S. group, Ilio DiPaolo’s and the Hamburg Buildings and Grounds personnel for their help and support.
A special thank you to Mark Panfil and his student carolers from Pinehurst and Cloverbank schools, as well as, the Village of Hamburg Fire Department who made sure Santa arrived on time.
It is through the efforts of many that make this event possible.
