Mr. and Mrs. Ray Duggan60th year anniversary celebrated
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Duggan of Hamburg celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on May 30.
Mr. Duggan and the former Shirley Pace were married on May 30, 1953 at Holy Family Church, Buffalo.
Mr. Duggan is a graduate from Canisius College and worked for 45 years as a chemist, retiring from Buffalo Color as manager of quality control.
Mrs. Duggan is a graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing and worked as a registered nurse for several years for Mercy Hospital.
The couple have five daughters and five sons, 38 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The couple has lived in the Village of Hamburg since 1977 and both have stated they feel that Hamburg is their ideal retirement home. An occasional visit to out-of-state children has given them more than enough travel enjoyment.

Ariel Merkel and Erick Ihlenburg are pleased to announce their engagement.
The bride-to-be is the daughter of the Rev. Paul and Lynn Merkel of Hamburg and is a 2001 graduate of Hamburg High School. She earned her bachelor of arts degree in anthropology at Wells College in 2005 and her masterís degree in sociology at the New School of Social Research in 2011. She is currently pursuing her doctorate in sociology, with a focus on disability studies.
The groom-to-be is the son of Susan Ihlenburg of Hudson and Robert Ihlenburg of Hudson. He is a 1997 graduate of Taconic High School and earned a bachelorís degree in English at the University of Fredonia in 2001. In 2006 he earned a law degree from Pace University Law School and is currently working for the Environmental Protection Agency in Manhattan.
The couple is planning an August 2013 wedding.Mr. and Mrs. George J. Lardo Jr.50th year anniversary celebrated
Mr. and Mrs. George J. Lardo, Jr. of Springville celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 18.
Mr. Lardo and the former Patricia Witka were married on May 18, 1963 at SS. Peter and Paul RC in Hamburg.
Mr. Lardo worked as a machinist for Worthington Corp for 23 years and for ITT Std. for 18 years.
The couple have three children, Debbie (Dale) Rosier, Cheryl (Paul) Williams and George (Julie) Lardo III; eight grandchildren, David, Rachael, Sasha, Paul Jr., Krista, Matthew, Alyssa and Stephan, and one great-grandchild.
A dinner celebration was held on May 18 at the Kings Inn in Machias.
