Dean's List and Hometown Heroes for the Sept. 5 edition of The Sun

Eden resident Matthew Scott and North Collins resident Joelle Detrick were named to the deanís list at Morrisville State College.
St. Bonaventure University has named the following students to its deanís list: Jessica Rehac of Blasdell; Jillian Hammell of Boston; Mallory Diefenbach and Joshua Mack of Eden; Kelly Biehler, Kiara Catanzaro, Rachael Herrmann, Christopher Hietanen, Kelsey Kryszak, Taylor Nigrelli, Toran Nigrelli, Philip Odien, Jackie Roberts, Margaret Schunk, James Strutowski, Matthew Stoklosa, Abigail Szal, Rebecca Tallman and Kelly Telaak of Hamburg and Alexandra Lyndsley of North Collins.
The following students were named to the deanís list at Medaille College: Justin Kennelly of Angola; Rebecca Baker, Daniel Czuba and Shannon Manning of Blasdell; Janine Benkelman of Eden and Brian Cleary, Leah Conroy, Robert Dolan, Matthew Klubek, Katherine Rozniak, Rebeka Sorge and Nicole Webster of Hamburg.
Devin Filipiak was named to the deanís list at Keuka College.
Major General Patrick Murphy, the adjutant general for the state of New York, announced the promotion of members of the New York Army National Guard.
Jon Singleton of Angola, who serves with the 152nd Engineer Support Company, was promoted to the rank of specialist.
Brian Bushen of Blasdell, who serves with the Company D (Forward Support Company reconnaissance, surveillance and target acquisition), 427th Brigade Support Battalion, was promoted to the rank of private.
Christopher James OíLeary, who has spent 25 years as a nuclear specialist on submarines in the United States Navy, was recently promoted to lieutenant commander. The Charleston, S.C. resident is the son of Arthur and the late Katherine OíLeary of Hamburg.
