The Sun letter to the editor: Boston Board members need to obey the town code

Editor:
The code enforcement officer for the town of Boston called a long-retired town of Boston Democratic Committee Chair on primary day, Sept. 10, and informed him that all political campaign signs had to be taken down on that day.

This came as a bit of a surprise, since historically, signs could be left until the day after an election.

Following a few phone calls to make sure that all the locations were covered, signs were taken down.

So it should have come as a surprise to me, as I traveled through town, during the course of the week following the election, that there were Republican campaign signs still in evidence. Thursday, Sept. 12, while returning to Boston from East Aurora, I saw a sign on Cole Road and Saturday, Sept. 14, I saw another on Herman Hill Road.

On Sunday, Sept. 15, I saw three signs on Zimmerman Road. As I said, it should have come as a surprise, but it did not, because, once again, it is clear that certain members of the Boston Town Board believe that the laws stated in the Boston town code do not apply to them.
