Erie County needs to maintain property

Editor:

Why does Erie County allow their properties within our village and town to become overgrown eyesores? Letters to the county and notices from code enforcement are ignored. This neglect presents major problems to our village and town residents.

The county property at McGurk/Electric in Blasdell has not been cut this year. Making a turn off of McGurk is dangerous, since the grass on that corner is now more than waist high.

No one tolerates this lack of property maintenance by individuals, but the county properties are immune to the same rules that regular citizens abide by. This is certainly not a once-in-a blue-moon occurrence. The same county properties become overgrown messes on a regular basis.

I do not believe that villages or towns should be forced to hound the county into taking responsibility for what they own. It is past the time for Erie County to step up and do what is right with their properties.
