The Sun letter to the editor: Rebuttal to Sun letter

This is in response to the letter my opponent ran last week in The Sun. He begins by claiming he is not running a negative campaign. Has he not read his own mail pieces? He is running a nearly exclusively negative campaign and has yet to outline what his platform would be.

He next states that I did not refute his negative assertions (you cannot make this stuff up) with facts, but only called him names. This is patently false. I meticulously took on his false and negative assertions, one by one. I provided facts and nothing else.

Don’t take my word for it. I posted the ad on my Facebook page: These facts made clear that my opponent was not being truthful.

He next says I am trying to hide from my “poor decisions” made over my term. I guess he feels lowering taxes five of the last seven years, reducing government spending, saving Woodlawn Beach, procuring a new senior center and enhancing public safety are poor decisions. I don’t.

Last but not least, Rooth stated, in last week’s Sun, that he would “not resort to name-calling.” Really? Anyone who has received his recent mailings knows just how disingenuous that statement is.
