The Sun letter to the editor: Hamburg Lions seek new members

Editor:

The Town of Hamburg Lions Club has been serving our community since 1941. Many people recognize the Lions for our work with the vision impaired. We do this important work and so much more.

The Town of Hamburg Lions Club provided over $10,000 in local scholarships and other youth services, last year. We donated thousands of dollars to area food pantries and actively work to enhance the quality of life in our community. In fact, last year alone, we returned over $20,000 to carry out our important work. Our motto is, “We Serve.”

The Blasdell-Woodlawn Lions Club recently disbanded and the Town of Hamburg Lions Club has stepped up to fill this void. We do need your help!

We will be holding an open house and are inviting all interested men and women to find out more about us. This meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 21 at 6 p.m. Dinner will be served at Ilio DiPaolo’s Restaurant, located at 3785 South Park Avenue in the village of Blasdell. We will also be collecting used eyeglasses, hearing aids, cell phones and ink jet printer cartridges at this meeting.

Lions Club International is the world’s largest service organization, with over 46,000 clubs and approximately 1.3 million members. We make our communities better places to live.

If you are interested in attending our open house or would like more information about the Town of Hamburg Lions Club, please make reservations by Wednesday, May 14, by contacting Lion Philip Durkin at 430-0019.

Lion Philip Durkin
President
Town of Hamburg Lions Club
