Havenít we all grown weary of the near-constant stream of negative news about the Hamburg School District? Like most of you, I long for some positive school news on these pages.
So it was a pleasant surprise, when I was introduced to Cameron Hall, a candidate for the upcoming school board elections.
After all the negative press about Hamburg schools, it was refreshing to meet a respectful candidate who was actually interested in my opinion about what Iíd like to see from our elected school officials.
Since that first meeting, Iíve come to know Cameron and Iíve learned that he is as sincere as his first impressions.
Having settled in our district with his family over four years ago, Cameron has lived here long enough to understand Hamburg values, but short enough to be the fresh face this district needs.
Cameron has two young boys who will be participating in the Hamburg School system for years to come, so his motivations require no second-guessing. With Cameron, his focus is solely on the community, not agendas.
Cameronís professional background as a senior manager at a local software company proves that he possesses the business background and leadership qualities that are sorely needed in Hamburg. Managing a $60 million budget requires more than just the knowledge of how to read a financial statement, and with his business experience and a bachelor of mathematics, Iím confident Cameron can help Hamburg schools through this difficult financial situation.
As the time to elect our next school board candidates nears (May 20th), I implore everyone to get to know your candidates, so we can move past the negative and keep Hamburg moving forward.
But, in my opinion, Cameron Hall provides proven leadership experience and is just the breath of fresh air that the Hamburg School District needs.
