A very heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in the town of Boston’s 2014 Memorial Day parade and celebration.
The master of ceremonies was Supervisor Martin A. Ballowe. Speakers included myself, Erie County Comptroller Stefan Mychajliw. The invocation and benediction was given by The Rev. Dave Shoobridge of Faith United Church of Christ.
Thank you all for the wonderful words spoken and taking time out of your busy schedules to be a part of our celebration.
I would like to thank the VFW Post No. 2552, James McCarthy and Norbert Witkowski, for the placing of the wreaths, and Mr. Edward Gresco for all of his help in coordinating duties. Thanks to the Battery Post for their golf cart donation which allowed our senior veterans to participate in this year’s parade.
Thank you to the Boston Color Guard, Boston Emergency Squad, North Boston, Patchin and Boston Fire Departments for their participation and traffic control.
I would also like to thank Herbert Klein and the Boston Town Band, for their outstanding performance. Thank you to Cub Scout Pack No. 391, Girl Scout Troop No. 31364 and Boy Scout Troop No. 491 for their participation.
On a personal note, I would like to share that every year the town clerk’s office seeks names of soldiers present or former to be recognized at our celebration. This celebration is to honor all of our veterans. The absence of name recognition does not minimize the appreciation we, as a town, have for our current and former serving veterans.
Again and always, thanks for making this year’s parade a success!
