The Sun letter to the editor: Opposed to proposed senior living apartments

Editor:
The new senior living apartment buildings proposal planned for Main Street in our historic village of Hamburg is about to change life as we know it.

The word “neighbor” used to mean friendly, considerate, helpful and respectful. Now, the residents on South Lake and Long Avenue are facing the prospect of major doom.

Multiple three-story buildings will ruin our lovely village existence. Residents will face water drainage, major loss of privacy, increased night lighting, major trash receptacles and parking lots right up to backyard properties.

Add to this easements that, if approved, will produce terrific traffic problems at already long waiting traffic lights. Oh, not to forget decreased property values!

We can be the voice of reason. We must notify our elected village officials to vote down this disastrous proposal now.

The concept by these developers of “take it or get out of the way” is not acceptable to the faithful citizens of this historic village.

We deserve better from our elected leaders, who should have our interests at heart.
