The Sun letter to the editor: Reject proposed town apartments

The thought of losing the quiet and safe street I have lived on all these years is being threatened and, quite frankly, it scares me.

The safety for every single person in my neighborhood will be at risk. This is what will happen, if DATO Development is allowed to build Sherwood Meadows Apartments in my neighborhood of Roundtree Village.

It happens every day. A big builder scopes out property for a project they believe there is a need for, in the area they want to build. This is apparently based on a study that warrants this information.

According to DATO Development, there is a need for 128 apartments behind my home. How can that be, when Brookview Luxury Apartments are being built right now on Southwestern Boulevard, which is less than a quarter mile from my home?

There are several other apartment complexes like Hallmark Village, Maplewood Estates, Sunset Court – Olde Tyme Village, Fox Brook Townhomes, the Villages of Mission Hills Senior Apartments, South Pointe Senior Apartments, Bethel Estates Senior Apartments, just to name a few.

My question is, where is the need? But a more important question is, how many of these apartment complexes enter and exit through a residential neighborhood? The answer is none. Would this start a new precedence for future apartments? Absolutely! Think your neighborhood is safe?

Let’s all act now and say no to Sherwood Meadows Apartments, before it’s too late.
