Volunteers carry postal boxes full of charitable donations.
The Hamburg residents and community gave abundantly again this year, Saturday, May 10 at the USPS Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. Residents donated nonperishable food items that were collected and donated to our local food pantries.
The Feed My Sheep Food Pantry of Southtowns Christian Center received a boost in stocking pantry shelves. Pantry shelves are being used more frequently, in the recent years, as the need rises. In 2013, Feed My Sheep served over 102,000 meals to area residents in need.
A special thank-you to our local postal carriers, who, under the direction of Pat Bapst, collected all the donated food, along with their regular postal duties.
Several community volunteers, including Teen Challenge and area Boy Scouts, helped to collect, sort and shuttle food to the pantry for distribution.
What a great community we call home! Thank you for reaching out and helping your neighbors in need.
