Evans Town Board kicks into high gear for the new year

EVANS — It was business as usual, during the first Evans Town Board meeting of the year, as the current incarnation of the town board entered its second year.
The board opened 2014 by approving a number of contracts and agreements with various groups and organizations.
The town approved an arrangement with the Angola Public Library, at a cost of $2,250.
Also, the contracts for Meals On Wheels of Buffalo and Erie County, at a cost of $7,200, were approved; community concern ($40,000); dispatching services with the town of Brant ($2,750) and Audubon Architecture Engineering, Surveying and Landscape Architecture PC, Wendel.
The board authorized Supervisor Keith Dash to enter into contracts and agreements with the Angola Parks and Gazebo Committee ($395), Boys and Girls Club of Lake Shore ($1,500), Building Relationships in Development Government Education Services, Christmas in the Village ($170), Evans Art Guild ($260) and Lions Club of the town of Evans ($395).
Agreements were approved for Buffalo Storm Lakeshore ($750), Evans Junior Archery Program ($380), Evans Youth Baseball – girls ($830), Evans Youth Baseball ($4,500), Lake Shore Youth Football ($4,500) and Lake Shore Youth Soccer Association ($4,500).
In other board news:
– Frederick Manguso’s resignation from the zoning board of appeals was accepted. Nicole Manges was then appointed to that body.
– Proposed Local Law No. 9 for the year 2013, which amended chapter 144, “Peddling and Soliciting,” and chapter 106, “Fees of the Town Code,” was adopted as Local Law No. 1, for the new year.
– John Arns IV was appointed as a part-time police officer, at a rate of $15.10 per hour, for days and afternoons, and $16.25 per hour, at night.
