The Rev. Dr. Bonnie Bates
BOSTON — The Rev. Dr. Bonnie Bates, the current pastor at Faith United Church of Christ in Boston, has taken a new position as the associations associate minister for Congregational Vitality and Development for the joint staff of the Eastern Ohio and Western Reserve Associations of the Ohio Conference of the United Church of Christ.
She will be responsible for staff support to departments of church and ministry and assisting congregations with things such as recruiting and developing pastors for new church starts.
Bates earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in organization management from Calumet College of Saint Joseph in 1994, a master’s degree in human resource development from Saint John Fisher College in 2000, a master of divinity from Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School in 2005 and a Doctor of Ministry degree in transformative leadership from Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School in 2011.
Before serving Faith Church from 2009 – 2014, she was the pastor of the United Church of Madrid from 2005 – 2009, Durand United Church of Christ as Pulpit Supply Pastor in 2005, Henrietta United Church of Christ as part-time youth pastor from 2004 - 2005, and the First Congregational Church of Riga, United Church of Christ, as interim pastor from 2003 – 2004.
Bates and her husband, Steve Vulcheff, will live in Stow, Ohio.
A farewell reception will be held for her at 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 16 from Faith United Church of Christ, located at 8651 Boston State Road in Boston.
