Vogtli will have to wait in Town of Collins

The first order of business at the Nov. 18 meeting of the Collins Town Council was a motion from Supervisor Dave Tessmer, saying that inasmuch as Janet Vogtli had just been elected to the council, and member Rob Gaylord had just resigned, leaving a vacancy, that Vogtli be appointed to fill Gaylord’s position until her own term would begin in January. With just four councilpersons voting, the vote did not get a majority, with Ken Martin and Mary Stelley voting nay.

The great bulk of the meeting consisted of the board discussing goals and strategies toward the upgrading of codes and policies regarding the transfer station, town subdivision and zoning codes.

Regarding the transfer station everyone was informed that since Christmas and New Year's Days both fall on a Wednesday, the transfer station will be open on the immediately following Thursdays, that being Dec. 26 and Jan. 2. The next trash day will be on Saturday, Nov. 30.

The next regular meeting of the Collins Town Board will be on Monday, Dec. 2, at 7 p.m. in the Collins Town Hall.
