First Presbyterian Church in Lockport starts annual peanut brittle sale

The First Presbyterian Church is continuing its production of peanut brittle.
From the mid 1960s through 2008, the church was the home of the Interfaith Youth Group, and the homemade peanut brittle served as the group’s fund-raiser for its Easter work/study trips to major Eastern cities.
In 2009, when the group disbanded, the church continued the tradition as an intergenerational activity that is seen as part community service and part funding for its youth groups.
Each winter, the community looks forward to the sweet stuff. The church has just started up its 2012 production Nov. 3, and will continue to make it most Saturday mornings through Dec. 17.
Peanut brittle orders may be placed with the church between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. weekdays by calling the church at 433-5905.
It is also available at various businesses throughout the community.
