BUFFALO - Some people know from an early age what they want to be when they grow up. Some who love animals go on to careers in veterinary medicine.
But how do they know if it’s really for them?
One way is by joining an Explorer Post informational meeting is set for 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14 at H206 Huber Building, Medaille College, 18 Agassiz Circle, Buffalo.
Members of the Niagara Frontier Veterinary Society will be discussing the organization and introduce those in attendance to post programs, which include meetings, classes, hands-on labs, observations and field trips to an animal shelter, dairy and horse farms and the Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine.
The interactive program is designed for high school students and young men and women, ages 14 - 20, who want to understand and experience what is involved in a veterinary career.
The registration fee for those deciding to join the Veterinary Explorer Post is $20. Students under 18 must have a guardian sign the registration.
The 2013 program runs from January through May. Students will meet with local veterinarians from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of the month at Medaille College.
