The Niagara Art Trail in conjunction with the Erie Canal Discovery Center/Penney Gallery is pleased to offer a four-week class, which will introduce students to basic drawing techniques.
This series will be taught by local artist George V. Miller, whose unique teaching method offers comprehensive tools for the beginner and more advanced students alike.
Students age 12 and above are welcome to take part on four consecutive Tuesdays, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. beginning Oct. 23 through Nov. 13.
Miller has traveled to 15 countries over the years with the expressed desire to experience firsthand the art, architecture, and people of other lands. During these sojourns, the fine art museums of the world were at the top of his list of things to see. A profound appreciation for the skill and craftsmanship of the art he viewed inspired him to study painting of the ancient regime.
“I felt something was missing in our daily rush for self expression so I decided to look to the past and its beauty,” said Miller. “It has been a humbling and rewarding experience.”
Miller has his paintings exhibited and in private collections in India, Belgium, Hungary, Puerto Rico, and throughout the United States.
The cost of the four week series is $85 plus supplies. The Penney Gallery/Erie Canal Discovery Center is located at 24 Church St., Lockport.
Free off-street parking is available east of the Discovery Center (Ontario Street Entrance). A list of supplies will be provided and supplies will also be available for purchase at the class.
Space is limited, so please reserve your spot soon by calling the Niagara Art Trail at 609-0433.
Payment can be made by cash, check, or credit card.
