For the tenth year, the nationally acclaimed Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) returns to the Kenan Center to cast 50 or more young actors and actresses who are in grades kindergarten through 12th-grade to perform in their original musical, “Beauty Lou and the Country Beast.”
A group audition will take place at 4 p.m. Oct. 15 at Kenan Center Arena, 195 Beattie Ave. Children do not need to have previous stage experience, but enthusiasm is a plus. Children must be available for all required rehearsals and two performances.
The production is the culmination of a week-long residency in which the students work with MCT actor/directors to learn songs, dance steps and speaking roles.
The final production is staged with costumes and sets provided by the touring company. The MCT visit is also a chance for serious acting students to win a recommendation to Missoula’s prestigious summer camp.
There will be two performances held at Lockport High School Visual and Performing Arts Center, 250 Lincoln Ave., Lockport, at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., Oct. 20.
All seats are just $7.
Residency sponsors are Murphy Insurance Agency, the Kenan Arts Council and Lockport Inn and Suites.
Missoula Children’s Theatre is the nation’s largest touring children’s theatre and has been touring extensively for 30 years, from Montana to Japan. MCT’s mission is “the development of lifeskills in children through participation in the performing arts.”
