Justin D. Deho
Clarence resident Justin D. Deho, 30, was arrested Friday and charged with burglary, second degree and possession of burglary tools.
The New York State Police based out of the Clarence barracks were called around 4:50 p.m. by a Town of Clarence Animal Control employee for a burglary in progress.
The Town of Clarence employee had called the police when he had observed a suspicious vehicle in the driveway of a friend of his that had been deceased.
The caller had been watching over the Goodrich Road home and knew the vehicle didn’t belong there.
Deho had provided services for the homeowner in the past and had been familiar with the residence.
The caller was able to detain Deho until the New York State Police arrived on the scene and made an arrest.
He was then taken to the Clarence barracks where he was processed and charged.
After further investigation, it was discovered that Deho had known that the resident had passed away and had planned on burglarizing the home after breaking in.
Sergeant Dedo of the New York State Police said that crimes such as this one aren’t any more common in Clarence than in other areas.
He thinks Clarence is a safe town and between the Erie County Sheriff’s Department and the New York State Police, it’s well patrolled.
“I think this is a pretty safe community that is naturally well policed,” he said.
Deho was arraigned in the Town of Clarence court and is to return on Jan. 15.
