‘Better Your Business’ seminar on July 18

HAMBURG — The Hamburg Chamber of Commerce has partnered with Hilbert College to offer the next event in a series of “Better Your Business” seminars for the 2014 calendar year. On Friday, July 18 the HCC will be at the Hilbert College campus as the New York state Department of Labor presents “Working for Business.”

The event will be held at the Hilbert College campus, located at 5200 S. Park Ave. in Hamburg. Check-in will start at 8 a.m. with breakfast and program at approximately 8:30. There will be a brief question and answer session to follow the seminar.

The series aims to offer an informative and inspirational lineup of speakers, trainers and professionals to present on important topics that are pertinent to creating successful business strategies. The seminar will be presented by Greg Corral, Business Services Representative and John Slenker, Regional Market Analyst of the NYS Department of Labor. Also joining them will be Micahel Ball, assistant director of Empire State Development. Both the general public and Hamburg Chamber members are encouraged to attend. Programs offered by the Department of Labor include hands on “matching services,” customized recruitment of the private sector, HR consulting, layoff aversion, hiring incentives, loan programs, information about the growth of the Western New York job market and more.

The talk will cover key area topics that will allow audience members to learn more about the Department of Labor’s involvement in the WNY business community and the various programs and opportunities the government run entity provides. With a stated goal based mission to “Protect workers, assist the unemployed, and connect job seekers to jobsc” this is an informative presentation to both employers, employees or those seeking work.

The “Better Your Business” series is sponsored in part by Hilbert College, Optimal CFO Consulting, Hamburg Gaming, and FMV Tax Professionals.

The event is open to the public and reservations must be made in advance. Cost may vary. For more information or to register, call the Hamburg Chamber at 649-7917 or visit their website at
