Rotary Club holds Jingle Bell raffle

Rotary Club of Lockport members are selling $5 raffle tickets for a diamond pendant to support world community services projects.
Tickets may be purchased prior to Nov. 27 at Mills Jewelers, the Historic Palace Theatre in Lockport or from members of the club to support world community service.
The winner will receive a 19 diamond cluster pendant .29ct total diamonds in 14k white gold valued at $1,075, which has been donated by Mills Jewelers of Lockport.
The winner need not be present at the drawing from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 27, at the Tuscarora Inn. A gathering for members and prospective members is scheduled for that time with a modest charge for members and free for prospective member guests.
The raffle offers Western New Yorkers a painless opportunity to support health, education and community service projects around the world such as Polio Plus in conjunction with the Bill and Malinda Gates Foundation to eliminate polio. While the disease is almost unknown in the United States, it raises its ugly head in India, Nigeria, Afghanistan and elsewhere and could even be a threat to the developed world if a polio free status is not maintained for several years.
Rotary Club members self-assess for the Rotary Foundation and contribute to water well construction and other projects. Locally, the city pool and not-for-profit organizations have received major donations in recent years.
