Man injured by friend on walk to Ohio

HAMBURG — Town of Hamburg Police Officer Nicholas Borowski responded to an emergency medical services request at the Seaway Trail on Lake Shore Road at 5 p.m. on Oct. 12.

The reporter called after observing a 20-year-old Delevan resident’s lying on a walkway, bleeding and going in and out of consciousness. Police said that it appeared the victim had been punched in the nose. According to Borowski, the injured victim was “very intoxicated and unable to communicate” and could not tell police what had happened to him.

When EMS arrived, the subject was transported to the Erie County Medical Center.

Two department officers located Patricia Morgan, 20 of Hamburg and Joshua Johansen, 32, of Gray, Maine, farther down the beach.

According to police, both subjects had recently been asked to leave the Buffalo City Mission and said that they were walking to Ohio, via Lake Erie. The injured subject was intoxicated and started a confrontation with Jones about Morgan.

The Delevan resident said that he started the fight and was then “beat up” by Jones. He told police that, since the two were friends, he did not want to press charges.

Jones was taken into custody; he also had an outstanding from Pennsylvania.
