SOUTH BUFFALO - Have you ever dreamt of flying through clouds as a fighter pilot for a day? Interested in joining Tiger Woods and Adam Scott at next year’s Master’s Golf Tournament? Dreams can come true, as least for two lucky winners at this year’s Kaleidoscope Auction Fundraiser to be held on Sat. June 22 at the Orchard Park Country Club.
Funds generated from this annual fundraiser held by Bishop Timon-St. Jude High School will benefit the Fr. Joel A. Campbell, OFM Memorial Scholarship which helps deserving young men with limited finances attend the high school.
The Kaleidoscope Fundraiser was founded by Chuck Lannon nine years ago as a way to help students that would not normally be able to attend the school receive subsidies that make the tuition attainable. Chuck Lannon, an alumni of Bishop Timon- St. Jude, is a true advocate of the Catholic high school built on Franciscan tradition,
“A kaleidoscope is ever changing,” stated Lannon when describing how they came up with the name, “Ever changing, ever growing, just like Bishop Timon-St. Jude. We continue to change with the times and people are noticing. This year we will have the biggest freshman class in ten years.”
Charles Lannon, Director of Sovran Self Storage Inc. since 1995, has been profiled in Forbes magazine, and has held numerous advisory and consulting positions. Lannon finds time to organize the Kaleidoscope fundraiser as he is a true believer that deserving young men should be afforded the opportunity to experience the quality education available at Bishop Timon- St. Jude High School.
The June 22 event will begin with a cocktail reception where guests can mingle and bid on silent auction items while familiarizing themselves with the great live auctions items. A full dinner will then be served in the main dining room of the Orchard Park County Club with the live auction to follow.
Kevin O’Connell, news personality for WGRZ-TV, will be the MC for the evening and the auctioneer for the post dinner festivities.
Auction items include vacation packages for trips to Ireland, New York City, and other great locations, accommodation in Kissimmee, Florida, passes to a Red Sox v. Yankee’s game in Boston’s Fenway Park, and other marvelous prizes.
Since its onset, the Kaleidoscope has generated over $1.1 million dollars to offset the tuition cost for its recipients.
“It’s all about the young men,” stated Lannon when asked why he continues to work so tirelessly on such a large event. Bishop Timon - St. Jude High School focuses on the development of the total person, and funds generated at the Kaleidoscope make it possible to assist more young men each year in their academic goals.
