TAKE A BITE — Hamburg holiday celebrators may pick up free gingerbread house kits at the Village Sweet Shoppe, located at 1 Buffalo St. in Hamburg, with cooperation from Bangs.
HAMBURG — Hamburgh Holidays Cochair Chris Snyder has announced the debut of “Christmas in the Village” in Hamburg.
The lighting of the star, a longtime Hamburgh Holidays tradition, will be held at 7 p.m. on Dec. 6 in the municipal parking lot.
From 6:30 – 8:30 p.m., trolley rides will take attendees from the winter castle to the Hamburg Village Plaza, viewing the holiday decorations along the route. This night will also mark the grand opening of Santa’s Workshop.
Hot chocolate and cookies will be available at this location, next to Santa’s sleigh.
“Children can also mail a letter to Santa too if they wish, as the mailbox is right outside Santa’s Workshop,” Snyder reminded Hamburg residents.
Kettle corn will be served at the winter castle location and a table will also be set up to sell reindeer ears and glow wands.
The artwork on the winter castle will be displayed for everyone to see.
“I am thrilled to announce the Village Business Advisory Council is joining with us for Christmas in the Village, as together we work to create an enchanted holiday evening in the village of Hamburg for our residents and visitors to enjoy,” Snyder said.
Strolling carolers will be seen – and heard – along Main and Buffalo streets, as the fires glow. Welcoming merchants will be on hand, to greet their customers with treats.
“This will also be a great night for holiday shopping!” Snyder added.
In addition, the Village Sweet Shoppe and Bangs have joined together to encourage families to bring back the tradition of making gingerbread houses. Bangs has sponsored this activity. The Village Sweet Shoppe will offer the kits free of charge, while supplies last. One kit will be available, per family. The Village Sweet Shoppe is located at 1 Buffalo St. in Hamburg and Bangs is located at 140 Pine St. in Hamburg.
In addition, Don Glover, a local musician, will perform a holiday concert at Main Street Ice Cream from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
