Friday August 9, 2013: Erie County Fair Highlights

It is Day Three of the 174th Erie County Fair, Firefighters’ Day. Gates open at 9am. Adult admission is $10, senior (60+) is $7 and kids 12 and under are FREE. Guests who arrive before 11am receive $5 admission. Firefighters and auxiliary members receive FREE admission with proper ID.

Canned food donations are being collected at every gate for the Food Bank of WNY. Cash donations of $5 or more will get you an Erie County Fair drawstring bag.

It is a One Price Ride Day! Guests may purchase a ride all day wristband for $25 on the midway. Guests who bring an original Tops receipt will receive $5 off and pay just $20 for a wristband. Each rider must present an original receipt to receive the discount.

Johnsonville will be rolling in with their Big Taste Grill and serving guests their famous Johnsonville Brats. Buy a brat for just $3 and $2 will be donated to the Food Bank of WNY. The Big Taste Grill will on the grounds through August 11.

New in 2013, Dale Jones, comedy juggler! He has been juggling for over 20 years and has been named one of the best by the International Jugglers Association. With all of his success it should be noted he performs with just one hand. Show times are 1pm and 5pm at the National Grid Family Entertainment Complex.

The Erie County Fair Talent Show kicks off today with the Maxi division featuring acts age 13 and up. Each performer has three minutes to wow the judges and the winner moves on to perform at the State Fair. Show starts at 11:30 on the Tops Avenue of Flags Stage. (Pre-registration was required)

Stop into the Ag-Grange Building to see what local growers have been cultivating all year. The best fruits and vegetables will be on display. There will also be maple demonstrations and products as well as an apple display to teach fairgoers about one of New York’s biggest crops.

The Firefighter’s Parade will step off in the Buffalo.com Grandstand at 6:30pm. The parade is an annual event that allows WNY to thank local Fire Stations for their service and dedication. It is the largest parade if its kind in New York State.

Closing out the day in the Buffalo.com Grandstand, Hotel California-The Original Eagles Tribute Band will be taking the stage at 8:30pm. The band has travelled internationally performing the hits of The Eagles. The show is FREE with paid admission.
