Three members of the Village of Hamburg Department of Public Works spent several hours Friday, May 10, planting three red oaks at Memorial Park, corner of Union and Lake streets, to replace trees that had been removed last year.
The trees are about 20-feet tall, with a 3.5 inch trunk and weigh about 2,000 pounds a piece.
Pictured putting the final touch on the second tree are Dave Poppenberg and Mike Koester. Missing from the photo is Dave Wittmeyer, who had left to respond to an accident on Buffalo Street, where one of the young village trees was snapped in half by the driveway to the Hamburg Public Library.
