Clarence Center to host a shop local event, holiday merchant stroll

Save the date for the Meet in the Center Shop Local Holiday Stroll from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday Nov. 30,“Small Business Saturday” where local merchants of the four corners of Clarence Center will be offering merchant specials and holiday cheer. Each participating Clarence Center merchant from Meet in the Center will be hosting an open house that day with snacks, refreshments, and holiday shopping in an enjoyable environment.

Bring the whole family to Clarence Center the following weekend as well for “Light up the Center” activities from 2 to p.m. and a visit from Santa and special Whooville Guests. Join in on the “Find the Snowman” scavenger hunt and be sure to collect a treat from each location participating. A stamp from each location enters you to win the grand prize, a Meet in the Center basket valuing more than $250 in products and gift certificates.

Enjoy free rides around the hamlet of Clarence Center in a horse-drawn carriage with holiday music.

This year “Light up the Center” will have a wonderfully fun Whooville theme and all guests are encouraged to dress in their Whooville holiday flair, and join in for the caroling and hustle and bustle.

Special ice carving demonstrations will take place at the four corners for all to enjoy. Be sure to bring your cameras to capture the fun as kids are invited to write a note to send to the North Pole in the lobby of The Bank of Akron and get voted on for the “Best Whooville Costume Contest” between 2 and 3 p.m. Santa will light up the center tree at 3:30 p.m. with special Whooville guests and, of course, the Grinch.

Winner of the Whooville costume contest will be announced directly following the tree lighting. All are encouraged to join in on a fun day in historic Clarence Center.

Participating merchants are The Perfect Gift, accepting gift donations for Cornerstone Manor Women’s and Children’s Shelter; Clarence Center Coffee Company, collecting donations for Roswell; Gertie’s, accepting donations for Clarence Food Pantry; Yours Truly, accepting donations for Salvation Army; Hen House II, accepting donations for SPCA; Clarence Center Pizza Company, collecting for family service; and Creative Essence.

You can follow all of the Meet in the Center promotions and activities year round through Facebook at Clarence Center: Meet in the Center. Happy holidays.
