Volunteers and members help run the Clarence Community and Schools Federal Credit Union.
Clarence Community and Schools Federal Credit Union was first chartered on October 13, 1954. The credit union’s name was changed to Clarence Community School Federal Credit Union when membership eligibility was expanded from the Clarence School District employees to a community credit union serving anyone who lives, works, worships or goes to school in Clarence and their families.
Clarence Community and Schools Federal Credit Union is a not-for-profit, cooperative financial institution, owned and operated by its members and volunteer board of directors, providing friendly and professional service, returning profits back to the members.
The credit union recently expanded membership to include anyone who lives, works, worships or goes to school in the communities of Amherst and Newstead as well, along with their families.
Marsha Brauer, the current CEO and manager, has been a part of the credit union movement for more than 26 years. Since her start at Clarence Community and Schools Federal Credit Union, Brauer has more than doubled the number of members and asset size of the credit union.
She has also increased the number of staff and size of the building to better accommodate the growing membership. Brauer is responsible for initiating youth savings programs in all the Clarence Schools. This includes the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and locations at Clarence Middle School and the student run branch at Clarence High School. She is also the co-chair for the Academy of Finance at CHS where business and finance students intern at the CHS branch.
Brauer is on the Clarence Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors as well as a chamber member and treasurer of the Kiwanis Club of Clarence. She is a member of the Buffalo Credit Union Chapter of the Credit Union Association of New York and has received statewide and national recognition for community involvement and financial youth education efforts.
You will also see Brauer and her staff at many community and school events and on committees including the Clarence Chamber of Commerce, the Clarence Hollow Association, Kiwanis, Rock the Barn, Clarence Day in the Park, the Clarence Toastmasters, HOSPICE of Buffalo, Children’s Miracle Network, Flight #3407, KKW Orphanage in Kenya, Hunter’s Hope, Clarence Food Pantry and many more.
