Crosby’s Stores raises funds for breast cancer research

BUFFALO - For the second year, the local WNY Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure is the beneficiary of a very creative, community supported “Pink the Stores” promotion by Crosby’s Stores, a subsidiary of Reid Petroleum.

Although Crosby’s Stores are a familiar site to many Western New Yorkers in southern Erie County and our neighbors in Niagara, Orleans, Genesee, Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Allegany counties, they are relatively new to Buffalo area. As part of national Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Crosby’s Stores continued with their “Pink the Store” benefit, which ran throughout all of the 45 Crosby’s locations the entire month of October.

With stores located throughout WNY and North Western Pennsylvania, the effort was designed to give Crosby’s customers and employees the opportunity to do their part in the fight against breast cancer by purchasing “Think Pink” products.

“Crosby’s has engaged themselves in this campaign for the past two years. We looked into many products to see what we thought might be a good fit for our program,” said Doug Galli, vice president and general manager of Reid Stores. “Breast cancer affects so many mothers, wives, sisters, daughters and men. It’s made such a big impact on so many families and we just want to do our part to make a positive difference. We encouraged our customers to join our efforts by benefitting the cause through these special products.”

A check presentation recently took place with Crosby’s Stores and VIPS and local Komen representatives.

Funds raised by the Komen WNY Affiliate go to support local breast health education, outreach programs and services for families affected by this disease in the eight counties of WNY.
